Visiting Malang, Teachers of Muhammadiyah 1 High School Sumenep took courses on Mushroom Cultivation and Nata de Coco at UMM Edupark

Malang July 2023, 34 teachers from Muhammadiyah 1 Sumenep High School visited the city of Malang to take part in training on making Nata de Coco and cultivating edible mushrooms. This activity was carried out at the UMM Edupark, which is popularly known as Tamesia (Agrotechnology Education Park).

In one whole day, the teachers had the opportunity to learn directly from experts in their fields about the techniques and processes for making quality Nata de Coco and how to cultivate edible mushrooms. This training aims to provide teachers with new knowledge and skills so they can provide better education to their students at school.

Edupark UMM as a training center is an education and research center in the field of agrotechnology located at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Tamesia provides complete training facilities and programs to introduce participants to modern technology in agriculture. The visit of Sumenep Muhammadiyah 1 High School teachers was one of the activities held regularly at the UMM Edupark.

In this training, the teachers were given an explanation about the fermentation process in making Nata de Coco, choosing quality raw materials, and the correct processing techniques. Meanwhile, in mushroom cultivation, they were taught about preparation of planting media, stages of mushroom growth, and pest and disease control. The teachers seemed enthusiastic about participating in this training and hoped to be able to apply the knowledge they had acquired at school.

It is hoped that this visit and training will provide great benefits for Muhammadiyah 1 Sumenep High School in improving the quality of education they provide to students. By studying the making of Nata de Coco and the cultivation of edible mushrooms, it is hoped that teachers will be able to introduce students to the importance of agrotechnology and broaden their horizons in modern agriculture.
