Mojokerto, December 07, 2024 – The Agrotechnology Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) conducted a field visit to the Cavendish banana horticulture production site owned by Mr. Sodiqin in Mojokerto. This activity marked the initial step toward exploring strategic collaboration between the academic sector and the horticulture industry.
During the visit, the UMM Agrotechnology team, consisting of the Head of Study Program, Secretary of Study Program, lecturers, and staff, conducted a location survey to assess collaboration opportunities. A brief discussion also took place on-site, addressing potential partnerships in research development, student internships, and innovations in Cavendish banana cultivation.
“We hope this collaboration will bring tangible benefits to students and support the productivity of the horticulture industry, particularly in Cavendish banana farming,” said the Head of the Agrotechnology Study Program at UMM.
Mr. Sodiqin, the owner of the horticulture business, welcomed the visit and expressed his readiness to collaborate. “We are pleased to share insights and explore partnerships with UMM to support the advancement of modern agriculture,” he stated.
The activity concluded with further observations of Cavendish banana cultivation processes at the farm, providing practical insights to the UMM team on plant management and distribution. This initiative is expected to lay a strong foundation for productive synergy between educational institutions and the industry.
