National Seminar "Reactualization and Student Movement Manifesting the Agricultural Industry 4.0”

The agricultural industry has experienced rapid development in recent years, especially with the adoption of increasingly advanced technologies. The concept of the Agricultural Industry 4.0 emerged as an effort to integrate digital and internet technology in the agricultural sector to increase productivity, efficiency and sustainability. Based on this, the Agrotechnology Study Program Student Association (HMPS) held a seminar to increase knowledge and insight through the National Entrepreneurship Webinar program. This activity is one of the work program events of the Agrotechnology Student Association which is included in the 2023 HI-FEST (Himagro-Festival) event. This National Seminar is one of a series of events in the National Scientific Writing Competition (LKTIN) with the theme "Reactualization and Student Movement Manifesting the Agricultural Industry 4.0”.

The event which was held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in a hybrid manner, namely offline at GKB 4, 9th floor of Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) and online via a zoom meeting was attended by UMM students and several students from several leading campuses in Indonesia. Head of study program, Dr. Ir. Agus Zainudin, MP, who opened the event, said that the important role of the student movement has been the driving force in updating the existing agricultural system. Students can set an example and teach farmers about the use of modern technology, such as drones, sensors, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor crops and improve resource use efficiency.

Dr. Ir. Wahono, MT. who is a lecturer as well as a practitioner thoroughly explores the opportunities for the avocado business in the era of the agricultural industry 4.0. Apart from that, the entrepreneur as well as a wood pellet export-import practitioner who is fondly called Evan shared his experience in building a renewable energy business by utilizing wood waste which caught the attention of the participants who attended. According to one of the participants, "The program is very interesting and can add insight, especially Mr. Evan is interesting and also fun," concluded Aulia in response to the implementation of this national seminar.
